What You Need To Know About Cardio Or Weights First – BuffBlogger
  • What You Need To Know About Cardio Or Weights First

Should you lift weights before cardio or after?

cardio or weights firstIt’s possibly the most asked question by those looking to shed weight at the gym.

Typically most peoples instinct is to do TONS of cardio and avoid weights all together cause they dont want any of those annoying unsightly muscle thingies (because we all know they grow overnight after 1 set of curls).

The reality is strength training is what builds the muscles while burning the most calories.

Strength training primarily uses your anaerobic system, which burns carbs for energy, while your aerobic system can burn either carbs or fat to fuel lower-intensity, longer-duration exercise.

So if you’re out of carbs by the time you get to your cardio, you’ll burn through fat.

The easiest way to think of it is like this (See elaborate diagram below)

STEP 1. BREAK DOWN THE FAT WITH WEIGHTS

(PICKAXE NOT RECOMMENDED TO ACTUALLY BREAK DOWN FAT)

    strength training, before cardio, exercise

STEP 2. SHED OF THE FAT WITH CARDIO AFTER WEIGHTS

(FAT WILL MELT RIGHT OFF, SO BRING A TOWEL OR BUCKET)

    WEIGHT LOSS, WEIGHTS BEFORE CARDIO,

There’s many who believe it doesn’t matter which one do first as long as you exercise, which if that works for you is fine.

Another theory is to mix it up between the two switching the order of which you do first.

The bottom line that I can’t stress enough in maintaining a health & fitness lifestyle is figure out WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU & YOUR GOALS.
